Description
9" (23 cm.) Bisque shoulder head of adult woman with elongated throat and heart-shaped face, having blue glass inset eyes, painted lashes, lightly feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, and sculpted ears. She has her original muslin stitch-jointed torso with bisque forearms, and a sculpted and painted bodice with white chemisette ruffle and gold cross on a black chain. Her sculpted brown hair is arranged with horizontal finger curls framing her face, forming two small curls at center forehead, and captured in a single long horizontal roll at the neck, then decorated with a black ribbon at her crown. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1870,wearing her original silk gown, whose skirt covers hundreds of folded paper "fortune telling" leaves hand-inked in German language, and posed on original wooden stand. Value Points: rare and beautiful model with additional fortune-telling feature.
