Description
14" (36 cm.) Bisque shoulder head with plump
facial modeling,cobalt blue glass eyes,painted
lashes,feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye
corners,closed mouth with center accent
line,muslin stitch-jointed body,bisque lower
limbs,painted brown boots,and wearing a pretty
cotton antique dress and undergarments. She has
sculpted hair in a unique blonde/brown shading
that is center-parted,waved away from face with
stippled detailing around the forehead,and
arranged in an extended braid that is very wide at
her nape,and wraps around her head so that it
forms three tiers at the crown; there is a blue
ribbon and bow at the back of her head and is
intertwined in the braids at the crown. Condition:
generally excellent,one bisque leg reglued.
Comments: attributed to Alt,Beck and
Gottschalck,circa 1880. Value Points: the rare
coiffure with interwoven ribbons is enhanced by
unusual shading of hair color.
