Description
14" (36 cm.) Bisque shoulder head depicting an
adult lady with elongated throat,rounded face,blue
glass inset eyes,dark encircling eyeliner,painted
lashes,lightly feathered brows,accented nostrils
and eye corners,closed mouth with center accent
line,and fully-sculpted pierced ears. She has a
sculpted bodice suggesting a chemisette with
incised detail of lace and cut-work,and a painted
black ribbon necklace with gold and blue
medallion. Her muslin stitch-jointed body has
bisque lower limbs with painted rose heeled
shoes,and she is wearing a cotton gown and
undergarment. She has dark blonde sculpted hair
arranged in graduated length vertical curls over
the forehead and sides of face and framed by a
long coronet of curls centered by a black sculpted
ribbon; at the back there is a very large and full
woven braid flanked by rows of overlapping large
finger curls. Condition: generally excellent,one
bisque leg restored. Comments: Alt,Beck and
Gottschalck,circa 1875. Value Points: rarity
factors include glass eyes,very ornate and unusual
hair,modeled bodice and jewelry. The doll is shown
