Description
17" (43 cm.) Porcelain shoulder head of adult lady
with oval-shaped face and strong elongated
throat,shaded blue upper-glancing eyes,red and
black eyeliner,brown feathered brows,accented
nostrils,closed mouth with outlined lips,She has a
later muslin stitch-jointed body with porcelain
lower limbs,painted orange flat slippers with
green bows,and is wearing a lace dress and
undergarments. Her brown hair which is shaded to
pale blonde at the front is arranged with very
full curls at the sides and captured at the back
into a pageboy roll,held by a sculpted black snood
and decorated with a raised blue coronet and white
petaled flower at each side. Condition: early
faint hairline at left shoulder-plate,Marks: 14 g
(and black script line). Comments: attributed to
Gera,circa 1870,the same model was also produced
in bisque and with variations of decoration. Value
Points: very rare model with beautiful face and
unusual shading of hair,matching brows,fancy hair
decorations.
