Description
14" (36 cm.) Bisque shoulder head of adult lady with very white un-tinted complexion, painted blue upper-glancing eyes, red and black upper eyeliner, brown painted brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with center accent line. She has a muslin stitch-jointed body with non-original bisque lower arms, wearing lovely antique costume. Her brown sculpted hair is shaded to pale blonde around her face and arranged in generously full looped curls at the sides, then captured at the back in a black sculpted snood which allows the hair to fall lower than in similar models. There is a sculpted blue coronet, and sculpted gold flowers at each side of the head just behind the ears. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: III (front shoulder plate) g (and other incised and inked markings inside shoulder plate). Comments: attributed to Gera, circa 1870. Value Points: especially fine quality of sculpting with beautiful shading of hair color, rich detail of curls and snood.
