Description
14" (36 cm.) Porcelain shoulder head with very slender elongated face and throat, painted blue eyes, red and black upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, accented nostrils, and closed mouth with defined white space between the accented lips. Her black sculpted hair is center-parted,waved loosely around the face and formed into a tight three-strand braided coil at the back of her head, with braided loop curls falling from the coil. She has a muslin stitch-jointed body and porcelain limbs, and is wearing an early calico print gown and undergarments. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1860,the model is similar to a style shown in early Kestner catalogs. Value Points: the simplicity of face and front hair style is wonderfully contrasted by intricate style of hair at the back in this rare model.
