Description
16" (41 cm.) Paper-Mache shoulder head with
oval-shaped face and elongated throat,painted
large blue eyes in slightly side-glancing
gaze,black upper eyeliner,single-stroke
brows,rounded nose tip,closed mouth with slightly
upturned lip corners,and sculpted ears. She has a
slender kid body with wooden limbs and painted
yellow shoes,and is wearing early patterned lawn
dress and undergarments. Her black sculpted hair
is arranged as though short,with curls framing the
face,but,in fact,is swept up at the back and
fastened with a well-defined decorative comb.
Condition: some shoulder plate craquelure,few face
rubs,body recovered at waist. Comments;
Germany,circa 1840. Value Points: early rare model
with superb coiffure enhanced with extra detail of
painted curls at the forehead,unusual eye expression.
