Description
16" (41 cm.) Paper-mache shoulder head with
elongated strong throat,painted azure-blue
eyes,black upper eyeliner,accented nostrils,closed
mouth,on kid body with wooden limbs,painted red
shoes,wearing simple white blouse and white
skirt,with remnants of frail early cotton gown
included. Her sculpted black hair is arranged with
two elaborately curled poufs at the sides of her
face with scalloped curls painted onto the
forehead,and having a prominent arrangement of
narrow horizontal and angled braids at the crown
fixed with a sculpted decorative comb. Condition:
good,original finish on hair and face,some
touch-up on shoulder plate,body repaired at right
knee. Comments: Germany,circa 1840. Value Points:
very elaborate coiffure enhanced by deeply
sculpted details.
