Description
21" (53 cm.) Paper-mache shoulder head with
perfectly-oval face,elongated strong throat,large
brown glass enamel inset eyes,painted eyelashes
and brows,strong aquiline nose,and closed mouth
with primly-set lips. Her dark brown sculpted hair
with strong comb-mark detailing is waved smoothly
around the sides of her face,drawn backward and
forming into narrow braids that are coiled into a
tight chignon at the back of her head. She has her
original kid body with stitch-jointing and wooden
lower arms with tine-shaped fingers,and is wearing
an antique cotton dress,petticoat,and drawers.
Condition: generally excellent. Comments:
Germany,circa 1850,bearing a close resemblance to
#10 although variations in complexion tones and in
shape of nose. Value Points: superb detail of
hair sculpting on the rare brown-haired glass-eyed
lady doll. She carries a blue ribbon award from
UFDC national convention,Denver,1978.
