Description
15" (38 cm.) Porcelain shoulder head with very
pale complexion and delicately blushed cheeks
portrays a slender-faced woman with elongated
throat,and very lushly sculpted light brown hair
appearing as though casually arranged but actually
quite deliberate. There are very full and generous
curls around her face and above her sculpted
ears,tendril curls at the sides of her forehead,a
loosely coiled chignon at the crown,and a neatly
wrapped roll at the nape,decorated with light blue
hair ribbon with gold edging that appears at the
crown and also above the nape roll. Her blue/grey
eyes are enhanced with red and black upper
eyeliner and feathered brows,She has accented lips
and nostrils. Her muslin body has new porcelain
legs and Kister porcelain arms with very
expressive fingers,and she wears a pale green silk
gown. Condition: generally excellent. Marks:
(Kister blue symbol on shoulder plate). Comments:
A.W,Fr. Kister,successor to Dressel and
Kister,circa 1890,the doll portrays the 18th
century French portrait painter,Madame
Vignee-LeBrun,as she appeared in a self-portrait
by that artist. Value Points: exquisite sculpting
of the portrait doll with finest porcelain and
painting,elaborate chignon.
