Description
15" (38 cm.) Paper-mache shoulder head of adult
lady with slender face,elongated throat,painted
dark eyes with feathered brows,closed
mouth,slender kidskin body with wooden lower
limbs,painted yellow flat shoes,and wearing her
original embroidered black tulle gown with
original undergarments and Alencon lace ruffle.
Her sculpted center-parted black hair tumbles in
cascading curls onto her shoulder plate at sides
of face,and is drawn back behind partially
sculpted ears to form a tightly braided small
chignon at the back of her head. Condition:
generally excellent. Comments: Germany,circa 1840.
Value Points: fine original finish and costume are
beautifully preserved,rare coiffure.
