Description
20" (51 cm.) Porcelain shoulder head portraying an
adult lady with very elongated oval face,high
forehead,elongated throat,painted blue upper
glancing eyes,red and black upper eyeliner,black
single stroke brows,accented nostrils and eye
corners,and closed mouth with extended accent line
between her very full lips. She has an early kid
and stitch-jointed body with porcelain lower
arms,and is wearing an antique gown. Her black
sculpted hair is arranged in deep waves away from
her face,edged by stippling detail,formed into a
tightly woven chignon with sculpted decorative
comb at the back of her head,and having "run-away"
ringlet curls tumbling onto her back shoulders.
Condition: generally excellent,body worn,paint
rubs on hair. Comments: Germany,circa 1870. Value
Points: rare coiffure with unusual formal
arrangement that is lightened by mischievous curls.
