Description
9" (23 cm.) Porcelain shoulder head of adult lady
with very slender face and elongated
throat,slightly tinted complexion,and having
painted blue eyes, red and black upper
eyeliner,single stroke brows,aquiline nose with
accented nostrils,closed mouth,muslin
body, porcelain lower limbs with flat black shoes
and pink stocking ties, wearing silk costume and
undergarments. Her sculpted black center-parted
hair is drawn very low to frame the face and
throat, and looped backwards under the fully
sculpted ears to form a braided chignon at the
back of her head. Condition: generally excellent.
Comments: Germany,circa 1840,the model was
inspired by the popular young Queen Victoria whose
hair was arranged similarly at the 1837
coronation. Value Points: exceptional detail of
sculpting of ears and braided detail of hair that
is particularly notable on such a petite model.
