Description
20" (51 cm.) Porcelain shoulder head of adult lady
with heart-shaped face,elongated throat,painted
blue eyes in well-defined eye sockets,red and
black upper eyeliner,accented eye corners and
nostrils,and closed mouth with center accent line.
She has a later muslin stitch-jointed body with
later porcelain arms,early porcelain lower legs
with painted brown ankle boots,and is wearing an
antique plaid gown and undergarments. Her splendid
black sculpted hair is waved away from face into
side poufs,with stippling detail around the
face,and forming into a long finger curl at each
side of face that falls onto her front shoulders;
the back of her hair captured under a sculpted
snood with gilt highlights and decorated with
sculpted gilt tassels and hair bow at the crown.
Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 3 (inside
back shoulder plate). Comments: Germany,circa
1870. Value Points: regal presence is enhanced
with fine luminous porcelain and exceptional
coiffure and hair ornaments.
