Description
12" (30 cm.) Porcelain head with flat-cut neck
socket depicting a young child with rounded facial
modeling,painted blue eyes in well-defined eye
sockets,red and black upper eyeliner,short
feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye
corners,little round nose,closed mouth with impish
shy smile,blushed cheeks. The head is attached to
original taufling body with wax-over-paper-mache
upper and lower torso and bellows midriff which
"cries" when squeezed,porcelain lower
limbs,painted black ankle boots,antique
undergarments and costume. Her sculpted hair is
arranged in a simple style waved away from
face,captured by a gold-edged white hair band
above her fully sculpted ears and having soft
curls at the back of her head; the collar is
shaded from midnight-brown at the back to a pale
taupe at her forehead. Condition: generally
excellent. Comments: Germany,circa 1860. Value
Points: extremely rare early doll has superb
sculpting and hair,original body.
