Description
7 1/2" (19 cm.) x 7 1/2" x 2 1/2" candle holders. Of finest grained rosewood, the fireplace has ebony-painted hearth and brass grill, brass figural mounts, and an unusual interior print with ormolu mounts and the message in French script "Le temple du vrai bonheur...du contentement. Brave les fureurs et les insures du temps" ("the temple of true happiness, of contentment, [is to] brave the fury and the insults of time"). Included is a pair of koi-shaped gilt metal candlesticks. Excellent condition. French, early 1800s.
