Description
7" (18 cm.) x 7" largest. The collection comprises intricately constructed multi-layered Valentine
cards,mostly three-tiered with paper hinges allowing a dimensional effect. Some are cards with
messages on the interior (one is hand-written verse). Each is richly decorated with paper
lace,embossed gilt scrap,decoupage,images of children,pets,flowers,romantic couples in various
fanciful ways; one is padded and sealed as though an envelope with love letter inside,yet the love
message is actually hidden under the decoupage rose on the outside. Very good to excellent
condition. Mostly Germany,mid/late 19th century.
