Description
20" (51 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate with modeled bosom and shoulderblades, very plump cheeks and chin, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted curly lashes, mauve-blushed eye shadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, shaded nostrils, accented eye corners, closed mouth with defined space between the shaded lips, suggestion of painted teeth, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, plump kid bebe body with gusset-jointing at hips and knees, bisque arms to elbows, separately-sculpted fingers with outlined nails, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent, body is original albeit patched. Marks: circle. Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, his early second period Bru bebe model, circa 1882, the model known as "circle dot" (in reference to impressed symbol at back of head). Value Points: lovely example of the early model with rare painted teeth, choice bisque, perfect hands.
