Rare Early Italian Felt Character Doll, Series 500, "Susi" by Lenci

21" (53 cm.) Felt swivel head with pressed and painted facial features of plump-faced young toddler, blue side-glancing eyes, painted upper lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with coral-shaded lower lip accented with two white dots, blonde bobbed mohair wig, jointing at shoulders and hips, plump toddler body. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Lenci, the model appeared in the 1928 catalog, presumably the first of the 500 series. Value Points: rare model is wonderfully-preserved, with shy mischievous expression, wearing original red felt romper suit with wide front pocket embroidered "Susi", red felt shoes, socks, and Lenci undergarment.
