20" (51 cm.) Bisque socket head with deeply sculpted features,blue glass sleep eyes,painted fringed upper lashes,one stroke curved brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth modeled as though open with shaded and outlined lips,auburn mohair wig,composition and wooden ball-jointed toddler body with side-hip jointing,wearing antique sailor costume,argyle socks,leather shoes. Condition: generally excellent,body not original but is of the same era and appropriate size. Marks: 50. Comments: Kammer and Reinhardt,circa 1912,the glass-eyed variation of their 100 painted eye character which was the first model of the art character series by that firm. Value Points: rare character with exceptional detail of sculpting and bisque.
