13" (33 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead with modeled bosom, oval-shaped face, brown sculpted hair with casual curls framing the face, forming into a topknot and with curls tumbling onto shoulders, enamel eyes, closed mouth in slight smile, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted blue stockings and orange boots, wearing gold silk twill tunic with metallic edging, tapestry woven vest with silver-framed turquoise beads, harem pants, and carrying a very fine early silver filigree treasure chest. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s.
