16" (41 cm.) Bisque socket head with unusual angular sculpting suggesting older child,small
blue glass eyes,painted curly lashes,lightly feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye
corners,closed mouth with full lips in slightly downcast pose,outline accents on lips,brunette
hand-tied human hair wig,composition and wooden ball-jointed body,wearing antique dress
with lace trim,undergarments,straw bonnet,aqua shoes,stockings. Condition: generally
excellent. Marks: 2033 BSW (in heart) 537 3. Comments; Bruno Schmidt,circa 1912. The doll
appeared on the cover of all three books authored by Madalaine Selfridge and was named
"Wendy" by which the model is still known today. Value Points: the rare model of older child
with wistful and unique expression,beautifully shaped angular features enhanced by sculpting
details such as dimpled chin and philtrum,upturned pointy-tip nose,lovely bisque,original
body and body finish.
