17" (43 cm.) Terra cotta shoulder head depicting man with ebony black complexion,his head
posed in up-tilted manner,sculpted tight black curls,brown enamel glass eyes,sculpted and
painted thick brows,lashes,closed mouth,hemp-wrapped body,terra cotta hands with
expressively posed fingers,terra cotta lower legs with painted stockings and brown
boots,wearing white muslin costume with sash. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: early
19th century,Italy. Value Points: very handsome visage with fine detail of sculpted
characterization,rich complexion patina.
