18" (46 cm.) Pressed bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate with modeled
bosom and shoulder blades,blue glass paperweight inset eyes,thick dark eyeliner,painted
lashes,very delicate traces of original mohair lashes at upper eyelids,multi-brush-stroked
brows,accented eye corners,shaded nostrils,closed mouth with outlined and shaded lips,tiny
stuck-out tongue tip,pierced ears,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,French kid bebe body
with Chevrot hinging at hips,wooden lower legs,kid over wooden upper arms,bisque forearms
and hands. Condition: generally excellent,one finger tip chipped,left forefinger missing to
knuckle. Marks: Bru Jne 6 (head and shoulder plate). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru,circa 1885.
Value Points: very beautiful example of the classic "golden period" Bru,with sturdy original
body,lovely bisque and painting,rare original mohair lashes,beautiful silk and lace
costume,ornate black leather shoes with silk and silver rosettes,superb silk bonnet with lace
and ribbon fringe. The doll was shown in the Selfridge book,Wendy and Friends,page 2.
