27" (69 cm.) Pale pressed bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate,unique cut-
out of bisque around the upper edge of face to indicate wig placement,oval face with strong
definition of cheek bones and chin,strong elongated throat,pale blue glass enamel inset eyes
with spiral threading,dark eyeliner,dark curled lashes,mauve blushed eye shadow,feathered
brows,accented eye corners,shaded nostrils of aquiline nose,closed mouth with shaded and
accented lips,dimpled chin,pierced ears,blonde mohair wig in elaborate original coiffure,kid
poupee body with shapely torso,kid upper arms,bisque forearms,gusset-jointing at hips and
knees,fine early costume may be original. Condition: generally excellent,clean reglue of
fingers on right hand. Marks: 8 Bte SGDG. Comments: Leverd & Cie,circa 1869 who deposed
the unique system for realistic wig placement; the model was made for one or two years only.
Value Points: splendid and very rare model with distinctive androgynous features uniquely
modeled to be used by milliners and coiffeurs to depict male or female figures; this example
having outstanding delicately shaded pale bisque with beautifully painted
