10" (25 cm.) Carved wooden socket head with rich brown complexion has well defined sculpting of short comb-marked hair,strong nose and lips,defined eye sockets,painted black eyes,wooden block torso,wrapped armature arms for positioning,sculpted hands and legs,painted red high boots,wearing original silk faille costume with metallic trim on edging,and richly encrusted vest,lace collar,cloak,red silk short pants,posed on original wooden base. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: early 19th century,Austrian. Value Points: superb carving and painting of wooden head,fine original costume with luxury detailing.
