12" (30 cm.) Carved wooden head with natural polished finish,tinted eyes,brows,and shaded
lips,black painted pate with long black queue,firmly stuffed muslin body. Condition: generally
excellent,hempen jacket is very frail. Comments: Shanghai Door of Hope mission doll,circa
1930,representing a Mourner with two layer off-white linen robes over striped white silk pants
with blue stripes,linen slippers,carrying cloth silk tassels,elaborately woven wide-brimmed straw
hat. Value Points: a rare variation of the Mourner series by Door of Hope,the doll was gifted to
the Cleveland Museum of Art in 1956.
