Description
13" (33 cm.) Carved wooden swivel head with elaborately sculpted wind-blown curly hair,thick
brows and long exaggerated moustache,painted hair and facial features,brown side,strong
nose,all-wooden body with dowel-jointing at shoulders,elbows,hips and knees,painted knee-
high boots with over-sized feet. Condition: generally excellent,some finger tip chips.
Comments: early 19th century,Tyrol (Austria/Germany),portraying nobleman. Value Points: very
fine quality of carving and portraiture on the all-wooden figure with articulation at neck and
limbs,wearing original costume with rich metallic thread trim and tunic,attached sword. The
figure was acquired by the Cleveland Museum of Art in 1928.
