Description
12" (30 cm.) Carved wooden swivel head with rich brown complexion,well defined facial
features,strong nose and jaw line,center-parted comb-marked sculpted hair,sculpted
ears,painted brown eyes and full lips,wooden block torso,hinged wooden legs with painted knee-
high orange boots,wire upper arms,wooden hands. Condition: generally excellent,tiny facial
paint rub,one hand replaced. Comments: early 19th century crib figure,Tyrol (Austria/Germany)
with superb characterization,swivel head,wooden body,wearing elaborate original costume of
fine silks and velvet trimmed with metallic threads,original wooden stand. The doll was acquired
by the Cleveland Museum of Art in 1928.
