29" (74 cm.) x 16". A wooden stage with hinged sides has lithographed designs of children at the frame and original silk curtains,label "Polichinell" (sic),and removable scenery. Included with the theatre are eight carved wooden hand puppets depicting familiar figure of the Punch and Judy scene,each with original cloth costume,along with wooden segmented dragon with hinged mouth and glass eyes,and an alligator head,also with hinged mouth; and a cardboard painted shield depicting profile of Native American. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany,late 19th century. Value Points: wonderful original condition of the puppets with highly characterized stereotypical features,original painted finish well preserved.
