Description
10" (25 cm.) figures. 14" with stands. The pair have wood composition (toso) heads covered in shell white (gofun) with painted features and inset glass eyes,silk fiber hair and sit atop matching dark wood bases with agetatami dais with striped silk ungenberi fronts. Condition: some losses to crown,ocidation to kinran threads in brocade,wear to textiles. Comments: Japanese Taisho era,early 20th century,the Imperial Couple (Dairi-bina) wear matching brocade textiles with overly long embroidered sleeves with phoenixdesign on the be-bina,the Lord (o-bina) wearing a lacquered court cap with silk tie cords,and the me-bina (Lady) wearing a metal crown tinted slightly red to represent a fine quality of gold. Value Points: the matched pair have original costume elements and display stands.
