20" (51 cm.) Each has one piece carved wooden head and torso,richly carved black hair,the
woman with formed ringlet curls and the man with center-parted hair and long side-burns in
front of sculpted ears,painted facial features,pale blue eyes,red and black upper
eyeliner,accented nostrils,closed mouth,short one piece wooden arms and legs with pin-
jointing,well costumed. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: American,late 19th
century,the pair have been in the archives of the Cleveland Museum of Art since 1937. Value
Points: rare to find American folk art dolls in fine original condition,fine detail of carving of
hair,expressive presence.
