Description
19" (48 cm.) Depicting a young boy with wood composite (toso) head covered with slightly pigmented gofun,with painted features and hair,well-proportioned inset glass eyes,inwardly feathered painted eyebrows,and finely rendered mouth,classic soft-bodied construction with forearms and legs of wood covered in gofun,mounted on a wooden display stand. Condition: generally excellent,professional restoration at small spot on crown. Comments: Japan,Showa era,mid-20th century. Value Points: the facial finish retaining an exceptionally fine sheen,the classic and articulated boy is wearing a formal black silk kimono with lighter squares bearing painted images of Boy's Day-related items such as helmet,sword,battle standard,drum,and arrow,along with pleated hakama trousers and silk tabi socks.
