8" (20 cm.) Sculpted gosho-ningyo with overall fine shell-white (gofun) finish has unusual
naturalisitic posture with head bent slightly forward as if to examine the object in his
hands,his plump legs delightfully rendered with left leg forward and right leg back; having
well rendered facial features with slightly open mouth revealing upper teeth,painted side hair
locks with ribbon tie,and wearing a fitted silk haragake bib with richly embroidered designs
executed in gold-wrapped thread with additional details piqued out in white and black silk
thread,and fitted zukin-style cap. Condition: losses of pigment,cracks and losses to gofun on
right leg. Comments: Japanese,late Edo/Early Meiji era,Mid-19th century. Value Points.

sacred treasures (takaramono) including: the clock of invisibility,the tama sacred jewel,money
mallet,treasure sack,weight,rhinoceros horns and coins.
