19" (48 cm.) Pressed bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate with modeled
bosom and shoulder blades,very full cheeks and lower face,brown glass paperweight inset
eyes,thick dark eyeliner,painted lashes,brush-stroked and multi-feathered brows,mauve
blushed eye shadow,shaded nostrils of rounded nose,parted lips with bisque interior lending
the illusion of closed mouth,bisque "funnel" apparent inside head,pierced ears,blonde mohair
wig over cork pate,kid bebe body in early gusset-jointed shape with plump
proportions,bisque forearms with separately sculpted fingers and defined nails and
knuckles,wearing beautiful antique cutwork embroidered dress,undergarments,ruffled
bonnet,leather shoes impressed with hot air balloon symbol. Condition: generally excellent.
Professional restoration to one thumb. Marks: Bte SGDG (forehead) (impressed circle dot
symbol at back of head) I.T (and) Depose (shoulder plate). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru,circa
1880,a very rare transitional model leading from classic bebe to Teteur example as indicated
by mouth and markings,but never having the Teteur system. Value Points: the rarity of the
early transitional Bru bebe is rivaled by its beauty and quality of bisque and painting.
