Description
14" (36 cm.) Sculpted wax portrait head with elongated facial modeling,aquiline nose with flaring nostrils,defined sculpting of brows and strong forehead,sculpted grey hair and full well- groomed beard,all-wooden fully-articulated body with jointing at shoulders,elbows,hips and knees,sculpted knee-high boots. Condition: generally excellent,front of left boot broken. Comments: Austrian,late 18th/early 19th century. Value Points: outstanding portraiture of aristocratic gentleman,wearing his original silk-thread tunic with velvet and paillette trim,on original wooden base. The doll was acquired by the Cleveland Museum of Art in 1928.
