Description
11" (28 cm.) larger. Each with sculpted wax head,tiny enamel eyes,tinted facial features,gentle
expression; the larger with wax-coated hair and hair coronet,wooden torso and legs with
jointing at hips and knees,sculpted shoes,padded wire armature arms; the smaller with wooden
block torso,padded wire armature upper arms and legs,wax hands and feet. Condition:
good,some typical fading of features,one missing foot on smaller,missing hands on larger.
Comments: early 19th century. Value Points: superb costumes of ivory silk satin with rich
encrusted gold and silver metallic trim,lace edging. The pair has been in the holdings of the
Cleveland Museum of Art since 1922.
