16" (41 cm.) Poured wax shoulderhead, blue glass enamel inset eyes in half-moon shape, incised upper eyeliner, accented nostrils, closed mouth, (frail) inserted hair, muslin stitch-jointed body, poured wax lower arms and legs, bare feet. Condition: generally excellent, tip of left thumb worn off. Comments: English, circa 1865, attributed to Montanari. Value Points: the sweet child is wearing beautiful original gown with cut-work embroidery, undergarments, cap, and is resting in a Victorian gilt metal cradle with lace and silk bed fittings and lace canopy.
