12" (30 cm.) Each is hand sculpted of clay/carton material with infinite minute detail of facial
features and hair,each with flared collar and bodice with hand-painted designs to simulate lace
and embroidery,sculpted bonnet or coiffe,firmly shaped body form under attached elaborate
gowns and accessories. Condition: fair/good,untouched as found condition with original
elements intact albeit dusty and delicate. Comments: depicted are Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of
Scots (paper label attached to each in old ink script),probably early 19th century,the maker is
unknown. Value Points: exceptional sculpting in rare medium with highlights including glass
jeweled coiffe and pearl beads on Elizabeth's costume,painted detail of bodices.
