25" (64 cm.) Posed upon a velvet covered wooden base is a bisque-headed doll with blue glass eyes,mohair lashes,open mouth,four porcelain teeth,pierced ears,with bisque shoulderplate,brunette human hair wig,carton torso with jointing at waist,one piece slender legs modeled with pointing toes,wide arms,paper mache hands,wearing original silk satin ballerina costume with gold thread edging,tulle overlay,and having coronet of flowers in her hair to match the garland of flowers she holds in her hand. Condition: generally excellent,mechanism and music function well. Marks: SFBJ 301 Paris 3 (doll). Comments: Roullet & Decamps,circa 1905,the automaton appeared in their catalog with the name "Valser" (dancer). When wound,music plays,and the ballerina pirouettes,balanced on one toe,her left foot moving up and down,and her arms moving up and down while she tilts at the waist from side to side in a graceful manner. Value Points: beautiful model with five movements,elegantly achieved.
