Description
20" (51 cm.) Standing upon a velvet covered wooden platform is a bisque-headed girl costumed
as Polichinella,having brown glass sleep eyes,mohair lashes,painted lower lashes,feathered
brows,open mouth,four porcelain teeth,carton torso and legs,wire upper arms,bisque forearms.
She stands behind a wooden framed drum that is perched on a metal drum stand and is
decorated with silk ribbons. When wound,the girl clangs a cymbal,beats the drum,turns her head
from side to side and upward,and music plays. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 1300-6
Simon & Halbig (doll). Comments: the model appeared in the catalog of Roullet et Decamps as
model 218,named "Polichinelle". Value Points: charming automaton in well-preserved original
costume and presentation.
