34" (86 cm.) Solid domed paper mache swivel head attached to paper mache shoulderhead with attached neck dowel, black glass enamel inset eyes, tinted lashes and brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with accented lips, defined philtrum and chin dimple, muslin upper arms, midriff and upper legs, paper mache lower torso and lower limbs, jointed wrists and ankles. Condition: original finish retained with pleasing patina, extensive chipping at edges of limbs. Comments: Germany, circa 1860. Value Points: the very rare grand-sized model of the historically important doll may signify its production as an exhibition model; the doll wears antique baby gown with soutache embroidered pique cape.
