German Paper Mache Doll with Sculpted Apollo Knot Coiffure

10" (25 cm.) Paper mache shoulder head with oval shaped face and elongated strong throat,black sculpted hair in elaborate coiffure with topknot captured by rows of tight narrow braids and two large poufs of curls at either side of face,painted facial features,blue eyes in unusually deep eye sockets,kid slender body,wooden lower limbs,painted flat shoes,antique costume appears original. Condition: small piece missing at front right corner of shoulder plate,some shoulder plate craquelure. Comments: Germany,circa 1840. Value Points: original finish is preserved on the early doll with superbly sculpted coiffure.
