19" (48 cm.) Bisque socket head with flattened solid dome,elongated facial shape with very full cheeks,bright blue glass eyes with spiral threading,dark eyeliner,painted curly lashes,incised eyeliner,brush-stroked feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth,defined space between the outlined lips,pierced ears,brunette hand- tied human hair wig,Sonnenberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists,wearing antique rose silk satin dress in the French manner,with straw bonnet having rose flowers,rose net stockings,rose shoes,undergarments. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 137 12. Comments: maker unknown,the bebe closely resembles the Triste model of Emile Jumeau from which the doll was evidently "inspired",circa 1885. Value Points: beautiful wide-eyed doll with "long-faced" plump cheeks and wistful expression,lovely bisque,great costume.
