11" (28 cm.) Amah. Each has carved wooden head and hair with carved facial features highlighted
by tinted brows,eyes,and lips,the woman and 6" baby with all muslin bodies,the 6" boy with
wooden hands. Condition: generally excellent,some costume fading,baby missing part of
costume. Comments: Door of Hope mission dolls,Shanghai,early models circa 1915,depicted are
Cantonese Amah with traditional blue cotton costume,painted black hair with straight cut bangs
and undecorated comb in hair bun; the boy in rose silk has unusual slit at side of painted hair
and painted pink dot at back of hair,and the baby has bald pate except small painted hair circle
at the forehead. Value Points: rare early period models with all-muslin bodies and superb
perfection of young boy with wooden hands and rose silk four-layered costume.
