13" (33 cm.) Bisque socket head with alternate faces on front and back, each with blue glass eyes and closed mouth, painted lashes and brows; one face depicting a fretful worried child with furrowed brow and downcast lips, the other face depicting a smiling child. The head is enclosed in a paper mache hood which extends into a shoulder plate, and which allows alternate faces to be revealed by turning the knob at the top of the head, blonde mohair wig, Sonneberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body, antique costume and lace-edged bonnet. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Carl Bergner, with bisque head by Simon and Halbig, circa 1892. Value Points: rare facial models with very fine bisque and expression on the popular two-faced model.
