Description
13" (33 cm.) Bisque socket head with alternate faces on front and back,each with blue glass eyes
and closed mouth,painted lashes and brows; one face depicting a fretful worried child with
furrowed brow and downcast lips,the other face depicting a smiling child. The head is enclosed
in a paper mache hood which extends into a shoulder plate,and which allows alternate faces to
be revealed by turning the knob at the top of the head,blonde mohair wig,Sonneberg
composition and wooden fully-jointed body,antique costume and lace-edged bonnet. Condition:
generally excellent. Comments: Carl Bergner,with bisque head by Simon and Halbig,circa 1892.
Value Points: rare facial models with very fine bisque and expression on the popular two-faced
model.
