18" (46 cm.) The wooden carriage with two spoked hand-cast metal wheels,is being pulled by a
carved wooden horse with black velvet coat,painted eyes,glued on hand-made harnesses and
trim,horsehair tail. Riding in the cart are hand-carved woman and man with simplistic yet
charming carved features,crudely jointed legs and knees,wire upper arms,hand-cut tin hands.
Condition: good,some attic dust remains. Comments: American,late 19th century,the vignette
wonderfully combines the use of found materials in the "going to Sunday meeting" scene. Value
Points: an original,as found,American folk art vignette with poignant expression.
