Description
7" (18 cm.) Solid domed bisque socket head, sculpted reddish brown hair in bobbed fashion with defined high top knot, painted facial features, blue side-glancing eyes, black upper eyeliner, painted brows in curled scowling manner, rounded nose, closed mouth with watermelon-slice-shaped lips, paper mache five piece body, painted shoes and socks, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 210 A 11/0 M Germany. Comments: Marseille, circa 1915,the doll depicts the popular character "Moritz" from the Wilhelm Busch stories, and memorialized in the early 20th century comic strip of The Katzenjammer Kids. Value Points: rare little googly with wonderful expression and bisque.
