Description
17" (43 cm.) x 13" card. Arranged upon their original heavy card paper sample card are 30 all-bisque nodding characters from early 20th century American comic strips. Each of the characters has highly characterized facial expression and hair, body pose, and vibrantly painted costumes to depict their role in the "funnies". Condition: generally excellent, feet reglued on one character. Marks: Germany (and name of character, on each). Comments: Hertwig, circa 1920, the licensed characters were a popular production for their prolific company. Value Points: the rare sample card, in perfectly preserved condition, with original factory inventory paper labels, has extremely rare figures.
