28" (71 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with pear-shaped facial modeling, very plump cheeks, almond shaped eye sockets, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, widely arched brush-stroked brows with feathered detail, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the outlined lips, pierced ears, dimpled chin and cheek corners, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight- loose-ball-jointed body with flat-cut derriere base, straight wrists, beautifully costumed in antique silk and lace dress, matching bonnet, undergarments, knit stockings, ivory silk shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: SCH (in shield) 13 (on head). (also marked SCH on derriere). Comments: Schmitt et Fils, circa 1884. Value Points: superb quality of sculpting with wonderfully defined features, finest quality bisque and painting, original body and body finish.
